Broken Computer...

Unfortunately, my computer is completely out of commission so i am forced to write my blog entries from the school. You wouldn't think that it would really matter, having to do it only at school, however, the biggest problem is trying to feel inspired to write anything from school. I am one of those people that works best with the music blaring and no one around, so the entries for the next two weeks may be a little weak, but bear with me and we both might be pleasantly surprised.

Worst Experience Ever!

Well...its the end of a long weekend and all i really have to write about it how horrible it was and how glad i am that it has come to an end. This may sound fairly pessimistic, however, if any of you have ever had food poisoning you will completely understand my view.
On friday night i went to Wendy's and then to a movie. It seemed fine. I got my bacon cheeseburger, enjoyed it, watched the movie, and then continued on with the rest of my night as usual. But then by about 4 am i started getting extremely sick, i was puking for hours, and hours, which in my experience seemed like years. For the next two days i couldnt even drink water and eat popsicles and manage to keep them down. This was most definitely one of the worst experiences of my life. I was actually praying that i would lose consciousness just so that i could relax for ten minutes without throwing up.
Now it is monday night and i still have yet to eat anything and keep it down , all because i, like alot of teenagers these days, gave into my craving for a bacon cheeseburger. Well, my advice and will power towards fast food have now changed for the better. My advice? NEVER GO TO WENDY'S!!!! Food poisoning has got to be one of the worst things you can ever go through, the only blessing being that fact that it usually only lasts a few days, not weeks! In the end, beware of Fairview wendys! Believe me, someday you'll thank me!

What to write about...Well, one thing that i have been thinking about lately, is the idea of deadlines. Teachers expect and demand that we, as students, hand assignments in on time. Yet they seem to disappear into some sort of black hole for months and months before they are ever returned to us. I really fail to see the fairness in all of that. If we have deadlines then teachers should have deadlines in giving things back. Sure, teachers have lives and are busy, and i am sure that they have trouble finding the time to mark all of our papers and assignments, but students are busy people too. If we get penalized five percent per day that our assignment is due, then it is only fair that if the teachers take much longer in handing things back then they should have some sort of penalty. Obviously this idea is extremely far fetched and unrealistic but as a student it is definitely frustrating to be constantly waiting to have an assignment returned to you.
Then of course there is the infamous situation of a teacher losing your assignment all together. I am sure that by grade 12 almost all of us, have experienced this at some point or another. Teachers are only human and they are obviously entitled to make mistakes, but shouldn't you get some sort of advantage if you are forced to redo an assignment because of their mistake? Again, never going to happen, but wouldn't it be great if it did?
This whole idea process sparked after this past week, when i handed in a specific assignment (on time!) that had to be checked over by the teacher and then handed back to continue with the next part of the assignment. We had three work periods to work on this second step of the assignment, however, for some reason the teacher that i have for that class (who shall remain nameless) had not yet marked it. So there i was, sitting in front of a computer for 3 full work periods trying to work on something that i simply didnt have. Finally, by the end of the third class she handed me the paper and said, "Oh, i had your paper marked days ago, i was just too busy the last few classes to hand it back to you." I was furious, because now, like everyone else in the class i have a deadline at the end of next week, however i have gotten absolutely no time to work on it, while other students have conferenced with her repeatedly during class time. I don't think that this is fair at all, and it leaves me frustrated and left to get that assignment done by the deadline or i will be penalized. What do you think?
